Welcome to my weight management site! (under construction) Are you on a diet right now with little or no results? Have you been on diets in the past but the weight came back? Joined a gym for 6 months or so only to go maybe 1 or 2 times a month and then canceled? Ever said "I just can't lose weight" and just gave up? Well, me to. For many years I have been in that same boat of a yo-yo diet, but when I turned 41, I gave it one more shot, and it worked. I lost 80 lbs in 2 years. That's right, I said 2 years. Think that's a long time to wait? Guess what? That was the problem!!!!!!!!! WEIGHT (wait) IT OUT !!!!! Everybody wants results NOW, even me, but that isn't how it works. You have to except that it takes time. I have been heavy all my life and I wanted to be thin in just a few months, and when it didn't happen I gave up. I would lose weight and gain it back quickly and more than when I started. At my biggest I was 256 lbs. Today I weigh 175 lbs. How did I do it ? After all these years of trying, why this time? Was it more will power? NO. Was it more exercise? NO. Was it a change in attitude and acceptance? YES !!!!! I'm starting this web site and hopefully a side business, to educate others in what I have learnd over the past two years. Am I an expert in weight lose? No, but learned a better way to approach weight lose that I hadn't thought of before. Forget fad diets and magic pills, they don't work. Prepackaged foods taste bad and you will hate them after a while. So , what is the big secret? Time and information, that's it. You need time, about a year or more for 40 lbs or more, and you need the right information to make good decisions about your diet. Here's an example. Fat Free products sound like a heaven send but they are not. Why? Two reasons, one is fat isn't your enemies, calories are, and second for me , when I ate fat free foods, I ate more of it and consumed more calories. The food companies may take out the fat but they put in things that you may not catch like sugar or fat substitutes that aren't good for you. I learned that fat equals full not fatter. The same can be said for sugar free items as well. They may not have sugar but the calorie count is still there. CALORIES ,that is the key. This is what gets the weight off and keeps it off. Now i'm not talking about the plan where you drop down to 500 calories or 900 a day and get supplements, that doesn't work. I'm talking about dropping off 200 to 300 calories a day from the required intake of 2000. That's it. How much simpler do you need? It takes about 2000 calories a day to make you function, so if you cut out just 200 calories, you will slowly begin to lose weight. This can be painful for some people due to the way they are currently eating. If someone is consuming 2500 to 3000 calories a day, a big cut back is really painful. The trick is to hang in there for 2 or more weeks and your stomach will shrink and you won't need as much food to get full. Nice place if you can get there. A big tip after the cut back is to eat slowly. It takes 10 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain it is full. If you don't give it time, you over eat. This is especially true when you eat out. If you don't control the portions you may over do it by eating too fast. |
